About Joe's Pub

Joe's Pub, an artistic program of the Public Theater, is an independent, non-profit music venue, dedicated to supporting performing artists at every stage of their careers.

We play a vital role in fulfilling The Public's mission to serve audiences and artists alike, as an active member of New York City's creative community. Every evening, we pair vibrant culture with genuine hospitality with a food and beverage program created in partnership with NoHo Hospitality.

IS JOE'S PUB AN ALL-AGES VENUE?

All ages are welcome, but please be aware that performances may include adult language and topics. If you have specific questions or concerns about the content of a performance, please Send us a Message for assistance.

WHAT IS THE POLICY FOR PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING IN JOE'S PUB?

Joe's Pub reserves the right to prohibit photography and video during the performance. Professional cameras and video accessories (tripods, microphones, extra lighting) are not allowed. Thank you for being respectful of the artist and the other members of the audience.

IS FOOD AVAILABLE DURING THE PERFORMANCE, AND DO YOU HAVE A FULL BAR?

Yes. Our cocktail list, created by General Manager and Beverage Director Jersey Katz, uses choice spirits and seasonal house-made mixers, combining tried and true techniques and an updated approach to the classics. Chefs Andrew Carmellini and Angel Monge have created eclectic American bar snacks, shareable appetizers, sandwiches, dinner plates, and desserts, sourcing local ingredients and New York influence. As a courtesy to the artists, we recommend arriving no later than thirty minutes before showtime to place your food and beverage orders.

IS THERE A FOOD OR DRINK MINIMUM?

Yes, there is a 2 drink or 1 food item minimum, per person, during every show at Joe's Pub.

HOW DO I PURCHASE TICKETS?

Tickets to all shows are available via the ticketing links on our calendar by calling Audience Services at 212.967.7555 or in person at The Taub Box Office at The Public Theater.

WHAT DO I NEED TO PICK UP THE TICKETS I PURCHASED ONLINE?

When picking up tickets at the Taub Box Office, you will be asked to present some form of identification. Please have your ID or credit card ready before arriving at the box office window. If you will not be present to supply identification when picking up tickets for a performance, please contact Audience Services at 212.967.7555 and ask for assistance arranging a "Hold Under" name to be added to the order. You may also make this request for purchases online, over the phone, and when buying in advance at The Taub Box office.

HOW MAY I BOOK A SHOW AT JOE'S PUB?

If a band you represent wishes to play at Joe's Pub, feel free to send an inquiry to bookings@joespub.com telling us more about the performers, their draw in the New York area, and where they currently play in NYC. Please DO NOT send physical press kits or CDs.

HOW MAY I RENT JOE'S PUB FOR A PRIVATE EVENT?

Joe's Pub is available to rent for showcases, CD and book release events, press events, benefits, weddings, holiday parties, corporate parties, meetings, and other private events. Our venue hosts 187 seated guests but can be customed for an event. Full in-house catering is also available. Pricing varies on the length of the event, date availability, and other factors. IS PARKING AVAILABLE FOR JOE'S PUB?

Street parking is often available on Lafayette Street or the surrounding area. If you cannot locate a public parking space, multiple parking lots surround Lafayette Street, including two that will offer you a $5 discount if you print this coupon and present it when you park.

WHAT IS THE BRIEF HISTORY OF JOE'S PUB?

Named for Public Theater founder Joe Papp, Joe's Pub opened in 1998 and plays a vital role in The Public's mission of supporting young artists while providing established artists with an intimate space and superior acoustics to perform and develop new work. Joe's Pub consistently presents the best in live music and performance nightly, continuing its commitment to diversity, production values, community and artistic freedom. In addition, Joe’s Pub features seasonal dinner and bar menus from NoHo Hospitality's acclaimed Chef Andrew Carmellini and Chef of The Public Angel Monge. As part of The Public's programming downtown at its Astor Place home, Joe's Pub showcases talent from all over the world, hosting approximately 800 shows and serving over 100,000 audience members annually. Joe’s Pub also offers unique opportunities like New York Voices, an artist commissioning program that provides musicians (Allen Toussaint, Ethan Lipton, Toshi Reagon, Bridget Everett and more) resources and collaborators to develop new theatrical works; and Joe's Pub Working Group, the venue’s artist development program.
